Every time I browse The Library using the SkinBrowser portion of SDC, My monitor goes blank. I can't access anything and the only thing that fixes the problem is a reboot. This never happens any other time or with any other proggie. This has been happening for a couple of months now. I have been too busy to inquire about it sooner, but it is now really starting to drive me nuts!!!! All my drivers are current.

Would anyone know why this could be possibly happening?

Thanks in advance for any help

Well not good news any longer, Browsing in the Skins and Themes library with SDC still partialy fries my monitor and makes my PC reboot. It happens when I start browsing the Library and I am in the thumbnail mode. As I scroll down and each thumb pops up, everything is fine at first, then the thumbs start showing distorted. Before I get a chance to shutdown SDC...Blink, The monitor goes black, Zap...My PC shuts down and then reboots. Sometimes my monitor kicks back on when my PC reboots, sometimes it lies dormant for a few minutes before coming back to life.

I am considering doing a Sys Restore, but I am not sure when it started happening. My other option is a Format and clean boot, which I dread!!

elvee, what version of SDC are you using? I have to tell you though, I don't think a restore will do anything...it does not sound like a software problem. What graphic card and drivers are you using and how old is that monitor?

My monitor is a HP pavilion MX70, 17 inch.

Intel 82810E Graphics Controller with 32 Megs of shared memory.

My PC is two years old and I want to buy a new one but I don't have the funds right now

I believe your monitor is fine, however I think the problem is the above. That's an 'onboard' controller and when you bring up that many graphics, it eats up your memory. While it should go to your swap file, if it causes a severe bottleneck all at once, your machine will re-boot. My guess is this doesn't happen at any other time.

You can try one thing...open Control Panel/Folder Option/View and check 'Do not cache thumbnails'. If it's already checked, then un-check it and try it.

Yeah, I figured it was, but sometimes Windows gets lost in it's own settings

Let me know if it works.....I guess if it doesn't, we'll just have to blow the damn thing up
